Career and Technical Education (CTE)

Career and technical education (CTE) involves educational programs that provide students with the technical and professional skills to succeed in the workplace and throughout their career. CTE programs are designed to meet the needs of employers while providing pathways to lifelong learning and family-sustaining careers, often taught through hands-on learning and on-the-job experience.

Trades + Tech Education Foundation

​Trades + Tech Education Foundation:
  • The Trades and Tech Education Foundation offers two $1,000 scholarship awards to Charlottesville and Albemarle students who want to study the trades. Completed applications will be evaluated based on program selected, financial need, personal recommendations, and other supporting documents.

Earn While You Learn is a program UVA started in 2022 to help individuals gain employment and training for jobs within the Charlottesville community. Individuals are hired as full-time employees and are paid salaries, benefits, and tuition support as they train for jobs within UVA's Medical Center. Entry-level programs include emergency medical technician (EMT), phlebotomy/clinical lab assistant (CLA) trainee, medical assistant training, certified nurse assistant (CNA), and pharmacy technician.
